NAC-MC Sea Day in the Gulf of Taranto

On 23 May the North Atlantic Council (NAC) chaired by NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and the Military Committee chaired by General Ray Henault, accompanied by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General John Craddock, will embark on NATO's Standing Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) vessels to witness the operational capabilities of the naval force during the NAC-MC Sea Day

The event will be conducted in Italian exercise areas within the Gulf of Taranto

The sea programme will demonstrate the high level of interoperability between NATO naval forces; illustrate the capabilities of NATO's Standing Maritime Groups and highlight Operation Active Endeavour, NATO's maritime contribution to the fight against international terrorism

Conseil de l'Atlantique Nord et Comite militaire : Journée en mer dans le golfe de Tarente

Le 23 mai, les membres du Conseil de l'Atlantique Nord, présidé par le Secrétaire général de l'OTAN, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, et du Comité militaire, présidé par le général Raymond Henault, accompagnés du Commandant suprême des Forces alliées en Europe, le général John Craddock, monteront à bord des navires du 2e groupe maritime permanent OTAN pour observer les capacités opérationnelles des forces navales alliées lors de la « Journée en mer » organisée à leur intention

Cet événement se déroulera dans des zones d'exercices des eaux territoriales italiennes, dans le golfe de Tarente

Le programme de cette journée en mer démontrera le niveau élevé d'interopérabilité entre les forces navales des pays alliés, illustrera les capacités des groupes maritimes permanents de l'OTAN et mettra l'accent sur l'opération Active Endeavour, contribution maritime de l'Alliance à la lutte contre le terrorisme international
