NASA HOSTS STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY FOR VOYAGE BACK TO SCHOOL

HOUSTON � NASA�s Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston (SCH) will host a free, public event featuring exhibits and educational activities to excite students for the beginning of the school year �Voyage Back to School� will be held from 5 p m to 7 p m on Thursday, Aug 18 at SCH

The event marks this year�s end to NASA�s Summer of Innovation (SoI) activities in Texas and New Mexico SoI has engaged approximately 1,500 middle school students and teachers in stimulating math and science-based programs to increase the number of future scientists, engineers and mathemeticians, and broaden participation by underrepresented and underserved students

News media are invited to attend

JSC collaborated with several partners in the region to make the SoI activities a success They included Galena Park Independent School District (ISD), Galveston ISD, Clear Creek ISD, Krueger School of Applied Technologies, HoustonWorks USA, the Dr Ronald E McNair Educational Science Literacy Foundation, New Mexico STEM Outreach Center and Gadsen ISD in New Mexico
