NASA ASTRONAUT TALKS SPACE WITH VENTURA COUNTY STUDENTS

HOUSTON � NASA astronaut and U S Navy captain Stephen Bowen, a veteran of three NASA spaceflights, is set to visit two Ventura, Calif , schools on Wednesday, Feb 27, to discuss his work at NASA and share his spaceflight experience with students

Beginning at 9 a m PST, Bowen will visit Our Lady of the Assumption Elementary, 3169 Telegraph Road While there, he will deliver two multimedia presentations showcasing images from his most recent space shuttle mission, STS-133 The first presentation begins at 9:30 a m and will be followed by a second at 10:30 a m

At 1:15 p m , Bowen will visit with students in the adjacent school at St Bonaventure High School, 3167 Telegraph Road

Each presentation will include an interactive question-and-answer session with students All presentations are open to the media

Bowen is the first Navy submarine officer selected as an astronaut by NASA He has logged more than 40 days in space, including more than 47 hours spent on seven spacewalks He conducted his final two spacewalks on STS-133, the last flight of space shuttle Discovery
