RapidScat data flow at PO.DAAC has been suspended since 17 February 2016,
corresponding to the last day of observational data received for 10 February
2016 (note: there is a 7-day latency gap for all RapidScat data received by
PO.DAAC), extending through to orbital rev number 7860, 21:25 UTC.
The cause of the data outage, which is still ongoing, is due to a
disruption to the instrument calibration that has resulted in a negative wind
speed bias of 1 m/s. The calibration appears to have changed after the
transition to the latest low SNR state on 10 February 2016. The RapidScat
Science Data Systems team is working on recalibrating the data as well as
completing their diagnosis as to the nature of the sudden calibration
change.
Datasets impacted include L2B, L2A (25-km and 12.5-km), and L1B.
Data users are asked to remain patient while the RapidScat recalibration
is underway, which is expected to take at least one more week before nominal
data flow is restored to PO.DAAC.
Concerned data users who are not currently registered with the PO.DAAC
email list are encouraged to register to receive timely data announcement
updates via email by contacting podaac@podaac.jpl.nasa.gov.
