History List-Serv Readers,
I’m delighted to say that the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has announced that our latest publication “Origins of 21st Century Space Travel” by Steve Garber and Glen
Asner is the winner of the 2020 AIAA History Manuscript Award. Steve and Glen will be presented with the Award in January at AIAA SciTech 2020. (The nomination for the award was made before the final title change, so don’t be confused by AIAA referring to
this work as “Untethering Space Flight” – that was the working title before we went to publication.)
As with all NASA History publications, the book is available for free electronic download in the 3 most widely used formats.
https://www.nasa.gov/connect/ebooks/origins_detail.html We also have a limited number of hard copies left in stock. Send me a note if you would like one.
Want to know more? Steve and Glen have appeared on two podcasts (so far) discussing the book. Check out the Houston We Have a Podcast episode:
https://www.nasa.gov/johnson/HWHAP/21st-century-space-travel and also the US Space Foundation’s Space4U podcast episode:

Congratulations to Steve and Glen on this well-deserved recognition. Also, my many thanks to those who helped them with their extensive research and to our NASA Headquarters team who put this book in print.
