The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the release of reprocessed L1A, L1B and L2 altimetry data from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich/Jason CS radar altimeter mission. This mission aims to provide high-precision measurements of global sea-level that build upon the extensive record of observation from the previous Jason series altimetry missions.
Datasets in this release were processed with the latest Sentinel-6 processing baseline (F06), which has been in use operationally for Non-Time Critical (NTC) datasets generated since April 28, 2022. More information regarding Sentinel-6 data quality and reprocessing can be found here.
These new datasets are considered Version 2. Reprocessed data included in today's release cover the time frame from the start of the mission through April 28. Reprocessed data generated since April 28 are being migrated from Version F datasets into the new Version 2 datasets between now and August 1. Version F datasets will be retired on August 2 at 00:00 UTC after all reprocessed data have been migrated into the corresponding Version 2 datasets, and NTC data will be released through the Version 2 datasets operationally from that point onward. Users obtaining NTC data from PO.DAAC should switch to the datasets listed below. NRT and STC data will continue to be available through the original datasets released for Version F.Â
The reprocessed datasets can be accessed through NASA Earthdata Search. They are also accessible via the DOI links listed below, which redirect to the corresponding dataset landing pages on the PO.DAAC Web Portal.
