• New campaign: In New Mexico, Land of Volcanoes https://earthobservatory nasa gov/blogs/fromthefield/category/gift/?src=eoa-features In 2017, scientists with the Goddard Instrument Field Team (GIFT) descended on the Potrillo volcanic field, a now-dormant region in the New Mexico portion of the Chihuahuan Desert The site serves as a "planetary analog," where researchers can test instruments that future explorers might use to investigate volcanic areas on the Moon, Mars and other rocky planets
