NASA SETS SHUTTLE ENDEAVOUR'S MOVE TO LAUNCH PAD, PRACTICE LIFTOFF
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla -- Journalists are invited to cover two upcoming events at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida in preparation for the STS-127 space shuttle mission in June Shuttle Endeavour will move from Launch Pad 39B to Pad 39A on May 30, and the STS-127 crew's launch dress rehearsal, known as the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test, will take place from May 31 to June 2
The first motion of the shuttle on its rollaround from pad to pad is scheduled for 12:01 a m EDT, May 30 The 3 4-mile journey is expected to take approximately six hours Activities include a 6 a m photo opportunity of the shuttle's move, followed by a 7 a m interview opportunity with Endeavour Flow Director Dana Hutcherson Reporters must arrive at Kennedy's news center by 5:30 a m on Saturday, May 30, for transportation to the viewing area Foreign journalists must arrive at Kennedy's Badging Office on State Road 405 at 5 a m for transportation to the news center
Live coverage of the move will be shown on NASA Television beginning at 6 a m , and video highlights will air on the NASA TV Video File
Foreign media accreditation for this event is closed U S reporters without permanent credentials for Kennedy must apply for accreditation online by 4 p m , Tuesday, May 26, at:

The Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test provides each shuttle crew with an opportunity to participate in various simulated countdown activities, including equipment familiarization and emergency training Endeavour's astronauts and ground crews will take part in the practice countdown

May 31 - Crew arrival: The astronauts will arrive at approximately 2:30 p m at the Shuttle Landing Facility and make a brief statement to reporters The arrival will be broadcast live on NASA TV
June 1 - Crew availability: The crew will answer reporters' questions at Launch Pad 39A at 9:20 a m The session will be carried live on NASA TV
June 2 - Crew walkout photo opportunity: The astronauts will depart from the Operations and Checkout Building at 6:45 a m in their launch and entry suits in preparation for the countdown demonstration test at the launch pad The walkout will not be broadcast live but will be part of the NASA TV Video File
