PRESIDENT OBAMA TO DELIVER REMARKS AT KENNEDY SPACE CENTER

WASHINGTON - On the afternoon of Thursday, April 15 President Barack Obama will visit Cape Canaveral, Florida and deliver remarks on the bold new course the Administration is charting for NASA and the future of U S leadership in human space flight

Both the arrival and departure of Air Force One at the Shuttle Landing Facility and his remarks at the NASA Operations and Checkout Building are open to the media Note that all media must apply through the NASA website https://media ksc nasa gov by 4:00 PM EDT on Tuesday, April 13 to obtain credentials Additionally, media can only cover either the arrival/departure of Air Force One or the President's remarks It will not be logistically possible to cover more than one event Media credentialing and logistic details, for planning purposes only, can be found below

THURSDAY APRIL 15, 2010

Kennedy Space Center, FL AIR FORCE ONE ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Shuttle Landing Facility Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899

All media wishing to cover the Air Force One arrival and departure on NASA's Shuttle Landing Facility will require a NASA media badge and must apply by Tuesday, April 13 at 4:00 p m ET to NASA Kennedy's online accreditation site: https://media ksc nasa gov On the online form under Reason for KSC Access you should select Other --> Air Force One KSC Arrival/Departure (FIRM RSVP)

**Media Check In: All media must obtain NASA credentials at the NASA Press Accreditation Building before they will be allowed to drive onto NASA grounds Media should plan to get badges early and meet escorts at the NASA Press Site to access sites

All NASA Space Conference media badges must be picked up at the NASA Press Accreditation Building on State Road 3 and then media must go to Kennedy's Press Site for transportation to either the SLF or O&C Building The Press Accreditation Building will be open:

• Wednesday, April 14 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

• Thursday, April 15 from 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Media Pre-set: 8:30 AM (Media must meet at the NASA Press Site at 8:30 AM to pre-set equipment at the Shuttle Landing Facility; Only live trucks will be allowed to drive to the site All others with equipment will be shuttled by bus Media will not have access to their equipment from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM After pre-set media will be shuttled back to the Press Site )

Media Access: 12:30 PM (Media must meet at the NASA Press Site at 12:30 PM to return to the Shuttle Landing Facility This will be the last access for arrival and departure Media should plan ahead that there will be limited facilities on site )

Air Force One Scheduled Arrival: 1:30 PM Air Force One Scheduled Departure: 3:45 PM

Throw: 200 ft Cable run: 1000 ft Live truck parking: Live truck operators will be escorted to sites from the NASA Press Site All Live Truck Operators must obtain a credential from NASA to have access

Directions to the Press Accreditation Building on State Road 3:

From the Cocoa Beach Area: Take A1A north towards Cape Canaveral After A1A turns into State Road 528, you will pass the exit to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the cruise ships Do not take this exit but continue on State Road 528 going west, passing over the Banana River and Sykes Creek bridges, until you get to the State Road 3/Merritt Island exit Take a right onto State Road 3, and after approximately 8 miles, you will pull into the Press Accreditation Building on the right (across the street from the Air Liquide plant)

Directions to the Press Site from the Press Accreditation Building:

Turn right out of the badging parking lot and proceed approximately a half mile to Gate 2 After showing your badge, proceed ahead, traveling under the overpass and go approximately four miles toward the Vehicle Assembly Building Turn right at the light at Saturn Parkway, passing the OSB building on the left and the OSB II building on the right The Press Site is on your right just past the OSB II building You will see a sign at the entrance marked "LC-39 Press Site " Turn right into the entrance and bear left into the lower parking lot

NASA Coverage: NASA Television will provide live video of President Obama's arrival and departure, and of the opening and closing of the NASA Space Conference
