Subject: Air Force
Historical Foundation Call for Papers
Dr Launius
Diane Putney gave me your name and contact information
so I could ask your help in publicizing a call for papers. The Air Force
Historical Foundation was founded in 1953, and we have published Air Power History quarterly since
September 1954. In addition, we have published ten books over the last 25
years, including one six months ago. We are organizing a symposium for
October 16-17, 2007, at the Sheraton Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, and we
have started publicizing our call for papers, with application deadline of May
1, 2007. We have the call online on the American Historical Association
Web site, the Society for Military History Web site, and H-Net, a humanities and
social sciences Web site. Both AHA and SMH will place the call for papers
in their print newsletters, presumably in the next editions. We will send
the call for papers through Air Force history, Joint Staff history, and Office
of the Secretary of Defense history channels.
We’re asking your help in getting the call for papers
out through the Society for History in the Federal Government. The basic
call and a proposal cover sheet are attached.
BTW, Diane has just won our award for best military
history book reviewed in Air Power
History in 2005 for her work Airpower Advantage: Planning the Gulf War Air
Campaign. (We’re catching up this year on past awards, and will
begin soon with the process for our 2006 award.)
I would appreciate any help you could give in getting
our call for papers into the SHFG Web site, newsletters, etc. Thank you
very much.
Sincerely
Tom Bradley, Colonel, USAF (Ret)
