NATO School for Women
A three-day NATO School for Women was held in Kharkiv from 26 to 28
October. The event gave teachers, librarians, journalists and public servants
from mid-size cities in eastern and southern regions of Ukraine the opportunity
to learn about NATO’s current role and its relations with Ukraine and other

A conference on “Media and Terrorism: the Euro-Atlantic Approachâ€ÂÂ
was held in Kharkiv on 25 October for local and regional journalists. The
participating media representatives had the opportunity to learn about the
approach taken by NATO-country journalists when covering terrorism and the

Intelligence sector reform in Ukraine
Ukraine presented its White Book outlining reform plans for the
intelligence and security services at a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Working
Group on Civil and Democratic Control of the Intelligence Sector in Bucharest,
Romania, on 24 and 25 October. more>
NATO Autumn Academy in Luhansk
Taras Shevchenko Pedagogical University of Luhansk in eastern Ukraine
hosted its first NATO Autumn Academy on 18 and 19 October 2007. The event
focused on the “NATO-Ukraine Relations: Myths and Realities†and was
supported by the NATO Information and Documentation Centre (NIDC) in Ukraine. more>>
Ukrainian border security and WMD terrorism
A
multinational team of 12 experts held an advanced training course for the
Ukrainian Border Guard Academy in Varna, Bulgaria, from 8 to 12 October 2007, to
train the trainers in how to combat the risk of terrorists acquiring weapons of

Ukraine hosts NATO exercise

ten-day NATO command post exercise involving 45 participants from Allied and
Partner countries has been taking place in Sevastopol, Ukraine. The aim was to
