Attention Subscribers,

We seem to always get a few emails about the orbital data continuing after the mission has ended Sometimes the odd email saying the data is wrong as someone is using the first TLE they come across

This is because the data comes from NASA Flight Dynamics and it takes into account an extended mission due to bad weather or other issues, so it will continue for a short period after the landing The data provided is what the orbit of the orbiter / shuttle WILL be, the orbit is adjusted to the data provided You also must ensure you take the data from the correct orbit number / epoch time

It is all in the disclaimer at the bottom:

The state vectors and 2-Line Elements (TLEs) are obtained from various sources at different times depending upon availability The data normally contains past, current and predicted orbital data Careful attention to the orbit # / epoch times!

As a guideline the data normally runs for about 5 days after a successful landing

Thanks for your attention
