EXPEDITION 27 ASTRONAUT RON GARAN RETURNS TO NEW YORK

HOUSTON � After living aboard the International Space Station for more than five months, NASA astronaut Ron Garan will relive his spaceflight experience for the public, friends and family at several events in the New York City area

On March 13, Garan will give two multimedia presentations about his recent stay on the orbiting laboratory at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, 1 Davis Avenue, Garden City Garan�s first presentation to local students in grades 6-12 will begin at noon EDT and will include video, photos and a question-and-answer session His second presentation begins at 7 p m and is open to the public Reservations are required with the museum

On March 14, Garan will discuss his mission with City of Yonkers Mayor Michael Spano The visit will include a press conference with Mayor Spano that begins at 3 p m at Yonkers City Hall, 40 South Broadway, Yonkers

Later that evening at 7:30 p m , Garan will give a public presentation at Iona College, 715 North Avenue, New Rochelle The presentation, hosted by the Westchester Amateur Astronomers, will be held in the Murphy Science and Technology Center Auditorium

Garan and his fellow Expedition 27 and 28 crew members, Russian cosmonauts Andrey Borisenko and Alexander Samokutyaev, launched aboard a Soyuz spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on April 4, 2011 The crew returned to Earth on Sept 16 after spending 164 days in space

Garan has logged 178 days in space including more than 27 hours accrued during four spacewalks Garan is a retired colonel in the U S Air Force and has degrees from the SUNY College at Oneonta, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Florida
