NASA ASTRONAUT TO VISIT ROXBOROUGH SCHOOLS FOR SPACE DAY
HOUSTON -- NASA astronaut James Dutton, a colonel in the U S Air Force, will relive his spaceflight experience for two Roxborough schools during their Space Day events on May 2 and May 4
On Wednesday, May 2, beginning at 9:30 a m MDT, Dutton will speak to students in grades K-2 at Roxborough Elementary, 8000 Village Circle West, Littleton, Colo Dutton will begin his presentation by sharing a video of his time in space He also will discuss the importance of learning science, technology, engineering and math
On Friday, May 4, Dutton will return to Littleton to speak to students at Roxborough Intermediate, 7370 Village Circle East Dutton�s first presentation begins at 9:30 a m A second presentation will be given at 10:45 a m
The events at both schools are open to the media
Dutton is a graduate of the U S Air Force Academy where he earned a bachelor�s degree in astronautical engineering in 1991 In 1994, he earned a master�s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the University of Washington
Selected by NASA in 2004, Dutton joined the space agency as a member of the 19th NASA astronaut class He completed astronaut candidate training in February 2006
In 2010, Dutton served as pilot on space shuttle Discovery during STS-131, a resupply mission to the International Space Station During that mission, Dutton logged more than 362 hours in space
