Message from AHA
The American Historical Association will hold our first Career Fair during the 2014 annual meeting in Washington, DC. The fair will take place on Saturday, January 4, 1–5 p.m., at the Marriott Wardman Park, Exhibit Hall C. We are inviting historians from a
variety of fields -- government agencies, military, nonprofits, businesses, colleges and universities, presses, independent scholars, K-12, etc. -- to speak with students and job candidates about the path to becoming a historian. Mentors can hold informational
interviews, display materials about being a historian in their field, or just be available to talk about their own journey in the history profession.
If you, or someone from your institution, will be in Washington DC on January 4, we hope you will consider volunteering your time as a mentor during the Career Fair. There will be no charge for mentors to attend the Career Fair. If you are interested, please
visit the web page at http://historians.org/annual/jobs/index.cfm, or contact me with any questions.
Please spread the word to anyone you think may be interested in this new event. Looking forward to seeing you in DC!
Liz Townsend
AHA Coordinator, Professional Data and Job Center
