SPACE WEATHER ADVISORY OUTLOOK #14-1

Summary For December 30-January 5
Solar activity reached R2 (moderate) levels on 01 January. Solar activity reached R1 (minor) levels on 31 December through 04 January. The remainder of the period (30 December and 05 January) saw low levels of activity.
The summary period began with an S1 (minor) radiation storm which ended on 30 December. The remainder of the period was below S1 (minor) levels.
The geomagnetic field activity was below G1 (minor) storm levels throughout the summary period.
Outlook For January 6-12
R1-R2 (minor to moderate) radio blackouts are expected, and there is a chance for an R3 (strong) or greater radio blackout, through the end of the advisory period (12 January) with Region 1944 the likely source.
There is an increasing chance for an S1 (minor) or greater radiation storm through the end of the advisory period (12 January) with Region 1944 the likely source.
A G1 (minor) geomagnetic storm is likely on 07 January in response to the arrival of an Earth-directed coronal mass ejecton observed on 04 January. For the remainder of the outlook period, geomagnetic activity is expected to remain below the G1 (minor) storm level in the absence of any other transient features.
