RECORD COLD IN THE MESOSPHERE: New data from NASA satellites show that the mesosphere (a layer of Earth's atmosphere near the edge of space) is experiencing record cold. This is causing meteor debris to frost, and noctilucent clouds (NLCs) to spread over Europe and the United States. Another summer of record-low latitude NLCs could be in the offing.
