On Friday, 26 March 2021, the CYGNSS Science Operations Center (SOC) discovered and rectified a mismatch within the CYGNSS Level 3 Storm Centric Grid Science Data Record Version 1.0 (DOI: 10.5067/CYGNS-L3S10) for the data values in the “best_track_r34_se” and “best_track_r34_nw” variables (i.e., the radial extent of 34 knot winds in south east and north west storm quadrants, respectively) in each of the 27 netCDF data files. The previously mismatched data resulted in a data swap between the “best_track_r34_se” and “best_track_r34_nw” variables. It was confirmed that this mismatch was independent of the other variables so they were isolated as the only two variables impacted by this update. All the other wind speed and coordinate variables remain the same as they were in the original release. This error has been corrected and the data files have been replaced as algorithm version 1.0, data version 1.1 (a10.d11), as noted in the updated file naming. The a10.d10 files will no longer be available from the PO.DAAC, and users who accessed these data prior to 27 March 2021 are advised to download the corrected data files at their earliest convenience.
