In light of the progressive relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in Belgium and in accordance with the space available for media and current social distancing rules, (a limited number of) media representatives will be allowed to enter physically the NATO HQ for media coverage purposes as of 1 Sept 2021.
Media representatives with NATO annual accreditation
Media representatives with NATO annual accreditation can access the NATO HQ during regular working days or for events organized with physical media presence (except for ministerial meetings or summits) using their annual accreditation badge. These media must announce in advance their intention to come to NATO HQ, by writing to NATOAccreditations@hq.nato.int, ideally by COB the previous day, or observing deadlines defined for specific events.
2021 NATO media badges will be delivered to media representatives upon their first visit to NATO HQ, as of 1 September 2021.
Media representatives without NATO annual accreditation
Media representatives without NATO annual accreditation can access the NATO HQ only for specific events (observing accreditation procedures to be announced for each event), or upon invitation by the Press and Media Section or national delegations.
Important:
All media representatives entering NATO HQ must meet one of the conditions below:
-
Possess a vaccination certificate proving that they are fully vaccinated since 14 days before entering NATO HQ premises;
-
Bring a certificate stating post-COVID recovery (not more than 180 days);
-
Present a valid PCR test (max within 72 hours).
They will need to present one of the documents mentioned above when entering NATO HQ. No test result or certificate should be sent via email unless specifically requested.
In case of high demand, access will be limited at all times according to physical space available. Priority will be given to large media organisations and agencies, while remaining spaces will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Those media representatives that cannot be admitted will be informed by e-mail.
At times, NATO could still organize events with very limited or no media presence.
Secretary General’s press conferences will continue to be accessible on Zoom and livestreamed on NATO’s website.
For the foreseeable future, all media representatives wishing to cover high level events (i.e. ministerial meetings) will need to accredit themselves. A separate procedure will be announced for each such event.
While on NATO HQ, the COVID-19 rules of conduct will remain essential:
-
Keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from other persons;
-
Wear masks while indoor at all times, except when eating / drinking;
-
Disinfect / wash hands regularly throughout the day;
-
Abstain from coming to NATO HQ in case of illness / symptoms.
