First graduates of Iraq senior staff course
On 15 July, 37 senior Iraqi officers graduated from the NATO-supported Iraqi Joint Staff College at Ar Rustamiyah, and will now fill key positions in the country’s security forces.
Serbia’s NATO aspirations “reachable”
NATO wants and supports Serbia’s course towards Euro-Atlantic integration, said the NATO Secretary General during a visit to NATO HQ by Serbian President Boris Tadić, 19 July.
NATO and UN Secretaries General meet
NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan discussed current international issues and relations between the two organizations during a meeting in Brussels, 18 July.
US-Russia initiative on nuclear terrorism welcomed
In a statement on 15 July, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer welcomed the US-Russia Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism.
