North Atlantic Council visit
to Afghanistan
The North Atlantic Council
chaired by NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, accompanied by the
Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General James Jones and the Chairman of the
Military Committee, General Ray Henault, will visit Afghanistan between
4 and 6 September 2006.
During the visit, the Council
will travel to various NATO-led Provincial Reconstruction Teams and will hold
meetings with President Karzai and other key members of the Afghan Government,
as well as with international community representatives, including from the
United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the European Union and the G-8
chaired nations.
There will be a media
opportunity with the NATO Secretary General during the course of the
visit.

Visite du Conseil de l’Atlantique Nord en Afghanistan
Le Conseil de l’Atlantique Nord, présidé par le
Secrétaire général de l'OTAN, M. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer,
ainsi que le Commandant suprême des Forces alliées en Europe, le général
James Jones, et le Président du Comité militaire, le général
Raymond Henault, se rendront en Afghanistan du 4 au
6 septembre 2006.
Au cours de ce voyage, le
Conseil rendra visite àplusieurs équipes de reconstruction provinciales
dirigées par l’OTAN et tiendra des réunions avec le président Karzaï et d’autres
membres clés du gouvernement afghan, ainsi qu’avec des représentants de la
communauté internationale, notamment des représentants de la Mission
d’assistance des Nations Unies en Afghanistan, de l’Union européenne, et des
pays pilotes du G8.
Un point de presse avec le Secrétaire général de l’OTAN
sera organisé au cours de la visite.
