Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Air Force Lt. Gen. Stephen G. Wood has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy commander, United Nations Command Korea; deputy commander, U.S. Forces Korea; commander, Air Component Command, Republic of Korea/U.S. Combined Forces Command; and commander, Seventh Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Osan Air Base, Korea. Wood is currently serving as deputy chief of staff, plans and programs, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Loyd S. Utterback has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Thirteenth Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Utterback is currently serving as deputy commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
