The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. 1st Class Charles J. Jones, 29, of Lawrenceburg, Kan., died from a non-combat related incident on Sept. 20, Jones was assigned to the National Guard's 149th Brigade Combat Team, Louisville, Ky.

The incident is under investigation.
