NATO condemns North Korea nuclear test
The Alliance condemns in the strongest terms possible the North Korean nuclear weapon test. This test poses an extremely serious threat to peace and security in the Pacific region and the world.

On 5 October, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force has expanded its operations to include the East of Afghanistan.

Defence reform, NATO’s main task in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is proceeding apace, according to a joint meeting of the North Atlantic Council and the Political and Security Committee of the European Union.
Further NATO support for Kandahar development
Supported by NATO-ISAF, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development opened bids for five major infrastructure projects, which will affect more than half a million people in Kandahar province.
NATO-Ukraine defence cooperation gathers pace
The fifth Informal High-Level NATO-Ukraine Consultations with participation of Defence Ministers and other senior officials from Ukraine and NATO countries were held in Sintra, Portugal, on 5 October.
First Pakistani students attend courses at NATO School
For the first time in NATO and NATO School history, the first Pakistani students attended a course at the NATO School, 25 to 29 September 2006.
