Key international partners discuss Afghan reconstruction and development with ISAF troop contributing Nations
NATO's Senior
Civilian Representative in Afghanistan, Ambassador Daan Everts, and
representatives from the United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan, the
European Union and the World Bank will have an informal discussion with the
North Atlantic Council and Ambassadors of partner nations with troops serving in
ISAF on Thursday, 2 November 2006.
The discussion will
centre on the challenges of reconstruction and development in Afghanistan, and
in exploring ways of improving coordination and cooperation within the
international community and with the Afghan authorities.
The NATO Senior
Civilian Representative, Ambassador Daan Everts, Deputy Special Representative
of the United Nations Secretary General, Ambassador Chris Alexander and World
Bank Country Director for Afghanistan, Mr Alastair Mckechnie will hold a joint point de presse at NATO
Headquarters in the Brosio room directly following the meeting at around 1600
hours CET.
