General Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Army Brig. Gen. Charles A. Anderson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Anderson is currently serving as deputy director, force development, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Kevin J. Bergner has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Bergner is currently serving as special assistant to the President and senior director for Iraq, National Security Council, The White House, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Daniel P. Bolger has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Bolger is currently serving as commanding general, Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, Fort Polk, La.

Army Brig. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Brooks is currently serving as deputy commanding general (support), 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Brig. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Caslen is currently serving as commandant of cadets, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

Army Brig. Gen. James E. Chambers has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Chambers is currently serving as commanding general/commandant, U.S. Army Transportation Center and School, Fort Eustis, Va.

Army Brig. Gen. Bernard S. Champoux has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Champoux is currently serving as deputy chief, legislative liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Robert W. Cone has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Cone is currently serving as commanding general, National Training Center and Fort Irwin, Fort Irwin, Calif.

Army Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Cucolo is currently serving as chief of public affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Yves J. Fontaine has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Fontaine is currently serving as deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.

Army Brig. Gen. Mark A. Graham has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Graham is currently serving as deputy commanding general, Fifth U.S. Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Army Brig. Gen. David D. Halverson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Halverson is currently serving as assistant division commander (support), 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized)/assistant division commander (support), Multi-National Division-Baghdad, Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Army Brig. Gen. Michael D. Jones has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Jones is currently serving as deputy director for politico-military affairs (Middle East), J-5, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Purl K. Keen has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Keen is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army South, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Army Brig. Gen. David B. Lacquement has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Lacquement is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for intelligence, C-2, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Army Brig. Gen. John A. Macdonald has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Macdonald is currently serving as deputy commanding general, Installation Management Command, Arlington, Va.

Army Brig. Gen. Raymond V. Mason has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Mason is currently serving as commanding general, 19th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Eighth U.S. Army, Korea.

Army Brig. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Mulholland is currently serving as deputy commander, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Theodore C. Nicholas has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Nicholas is currently serving as deputy director, Defense Joint Intelligence Operations Center, Defense Intelligence Agency, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Patrick J. O'Reilly has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. O'Reilly is currently serving as program director, ground-based midcourse defense, Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, Ala.

Army Brig. Gen. John E. Sterling Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Sterling is currently serving as assistant commandant, U.S. Army Engineer School/deputy commanding general, Initial Military Training, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Army Brig. Gen. Randolph P. Strong has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Strong is currently serving as commanding general/commandant, U.S. Army Signal Center and Fort Gordon, Fort Gordon, Ga.

Army Brig. Gen. Merdith W. B. Temple has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Temple is currently serving as director of military programs, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. William J. Troy has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Troy is currently serving as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, I Corps and Fort Lewis, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Army Brig. Gen. Peter M. Vangjel has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Vangjel is currently serving as director of strategy, plans and policy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Dennis L. Via has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Via is currently serving as commanding general, 5th Signal Command/deputy chief of staff, G-6, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.
