NATO Ambassadors and the Secretary
General
to attend a conference in Kuwait
NATO Permanent Representatives and the Secretary General of NATO H.E. Mr.
Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will travel to Kuwait on 11-13 December 2002. They
will attend the International Conference on "NATO and Gulf
Countries. Facing Common Challenges Through the Istanbul Cooperation
Initiative", to take place at the Array Center Ball Room in Kuwait
City. This conference is sponsored by the Government of Kuwait and the
NATO Public Diplomacy Division.
This international event will bring together NATO Permanent
Representatives on the North Atlantic Council and high level NATO
officials with government representatives, academics and senior scholars
from countries in the region. The conference main objectives are: to
promote a better mutual understanding between NATO and ICI invited
countries and to introduce fresh perceptions and ideas from the region on
the implementation of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.
The Prime Minister of Kuwait H.H. Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad
al-Sabah, will deliver the conference opening address and the Secretary
General of NATO H.E. Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will address the
participants with the keynote speech.
During the visit the Secretary General of NATO, H.E. Mr. Jaap de Hoop
Scheffer will hold bilateral meetings with the Emir of Kuwait, H.H.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, with the Crown Prince of Kuwait
H.H. Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and with the Prime Minister
of Kuwait H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

LES REPRÉSENTANTS PERMANENTS AUPRÈS DE L’OTAN
ET LE SECRÉTAIRE GÉNÉRAL PARTICIPERONT À UNE CONFÉRENCE AU
KOWEÃT
Les Représentants permanents auprès de l’OTAN et le Secrétaire général de
l’OTAN, S.E.M. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer seront au Koweït du 11 au 13
décembre 2006. Ils participeront à la conférence internationale organisée
à l’Array Center Ball Room à Koweït City sur le thème «L’OTAN et
les pays du Golfe face aux défis communs - Rôle de l'Initiative de
coopération d'Istanbul (ICI)». Cette conférence est parrainée par le
gouvernement du Koweït et la Division Diplomatie publique de
lÂ’OTAN.
Cette conférence internationale réunira les Représentants permanents des
pays de l’OTAN auprès du Conseil de l’Atlantique Nord, de hauts
responsables de l’OTAN et des représentants des gouvernements, des
universitaires et des chercheurs de haut niveau des pays de la région.
Elle aura pour principal objectif de permettre à l'OTAN et aux pays
invités à participer à l'ICI de mieux se comprendre et elle donnera
l’occasion aux représentants de la région de présenter des conceptions
nouvelles et des idées neuves sur la mise en œuvre de l'Initiative de
coopération d'Istanbul.
Le Premier ministre du Koweït, S.A. le Cheikh Nasser Mohammed Al Ahmed Al
Sabah, prononcera l’allocution d’ouverture de la conférence et le
Secrétaire général de l’OTAN, S.E M. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, prononcera le
discours introductif.
Au cours de cette visite, le Secrétaire général de l’OTAN, S.E. M. Jaap
de Hoop Scheffer, aura des entretiens bilatéraux avec l’Émir du Koweït,
S.A. le Cheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, avec le prince héritier
du Koweït, S.A. le Cheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, et avec le
Premier ministre, S.A. le Cheikh Nasser Mohammed Al Ahmed Al
Sabah.
