ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANADIAN VIMY AWARD

announcement cited General

leadership throughout his career of service to

The Vimy Award is 
meant to commemorate and honor the courage of the Canadian World War I soldiers 
who, in capturing Vimy Ridge on that Easter Monday in 1917, also captured the 
imagination of Canadians.
General Henault was elected Chairman of the 
NATO Military Committee in November 2004 and assumed that position at NATO 
Headquarters in 
The Vimy Award is an 
annual event conducted by the CDA Institute since 1991 to remind Canadians of 
their proud heritage, by annually honoring one Canadian whose contributions to 
the security and preservation of democracy in this country, have embodied 
the spirit of Vimy Ridge.
