APPOINTMENT OF NEW SUPREME ALLIED COMMANDER
TRANSFORMATION

NATO today announced the appointment of Lieutenant General James N. Mattis as Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.  Lieutenant General Mattis is currently serving as Commander, US Marine Corps Forces Central Command and Commanding General, I Marine Expeditionary Force.  He has also been nominated  Commander, United States Joint Forces Command.  With the advice and consent of the United States Senate, the President will appoint Lieutenant General Mattis to the grade of General while serving in these positions.

L'OTAN a annoncé aujourd'hui la nomination du général de corps d'armée James N. Mattis au poste de Commandant suprême allié Transformation. Le général Mattis est actuellement à la tête du Commandement central du Corps des Marines des États-Unis, et il commande la 1ère force expéditionnaire des Marines. Il a également été nommé commandant du Commandement des forces interarmées des États-Unis. En suivant l'avis et avec le consentement du Sénat des États-Unis, le Président nommera le général de corps d'armée Mattis au grade de général d'armée lorsque ce dernier occupera ces postes.
