STATEMENT BY THE NATO SECRETARY GENERAL

ON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN ARMENIA

I was encouraged by the initial findings of the International Election Observation Mission, which noted some signs of progress.  However, concerns have also been raised and they have to be addressed.  NATO looks forward to continue working with Armenia in the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) to lend support, where we can, to the strengthening of ArmeniaÂ’s democratic institutions.

DÉCLARATION DU SECRÉTAIRE GÉNÉRAL DE L'OTAN SUR L'ÉLECTION PRÉSIDENTIELLE EN ARMÉNIE

J'ai été encouragé par les premières conclusions de la mission internationale d'observation de l'élection, qui a constaté certains signes de progrès. Toutefois, il conviendra d'examiner les préoccupations qui ont été exprimées. L'OTAN se réjouit à la perspective de continuer à travailler avec l'Arménie dans le cadre du plan d'action individuel pour le Partenariat (IPAP) afin de contribuer, dans les domaines où nous le pourrons, au renforcement des institutions démocratiques de l'Arménie.
