Public diplomacy was an integral part of the North Atlantic
Council’s visit to Ukraine. Following the first day of their trip in Kyiv,
NATO ambassadors accepted the Ukrainian invitation to split into three groups to
visit the cities of Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Lviv, where they participated in
activities jointly organized by local authorities, non-governmental

Academy of Science in Kharkiv, Ukraine on 17 June 2008 to find out more about

Ukrainian Defence Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov met Allied defence
ministers at NATO Headquarters on 13 June. Discussions in the NATO-Ukraine
Commission (NUC) focused on Ukraine's progress in implementing defence and
security sector reforms as well as Ukraine's contribution to security and

At the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of Defence
Ministers on 13 June, Ukrainian Defence Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov signed the
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Ukraine’s participation in NATO’s Air
Situation Data Exchange (ASDE) programme. Once implemented, the system will
facilitate the reciprocal and mutually beneficial exchange of filtered air
situation information between NATO and Ukraine. more>>
A Ukrainian team was among some 1000 people from 25 NATO and Partner
countries to deploy to assist the Finnish authorities in a five-day
disaster-response field exercise, UUSIMAA 2008, which was held in in Finland

The Hetman Sagaidachnyi, a Ukrainian frigate with a ship-borne
helicopter, has deployed in support of Operation Active Endeavour, NATO’s
maritime counter-terrorist operation in the Mediterranean, from 30 May to 2

attended a Military Committee meeting with Ukraine at Chiefs of Defence level at

The civil democratic control of intelligence and security services was
the theme of three events which took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, from 21 to 23
April. A parliamentary workshop, an intelligence expert working group and a
human rights conference brought together parliamentarians, government officials
and experts from Ukraine and over 20 NATO countries as well as representatives
of civil society and international non-governmental organizations. more>>
