Secretary General congratulates President-elect Obama

I offer warm congratulations to Senator Obama on his election to become the next US President. The transatlantic link, based upon the shared values on which our Alliance was founded almost 60 years ago, remains essential. Today’s security challenges require an ever stronger cooperation and solidarity between Allies, and I look forward to the role the United States will continue to play in this regard under President-elect Obama’s leadership.
