Aquarius salinity, wind speed and wind direction data from the Combined Active-Passive (CAP) algorithm are now available at the PO.DAAC.
Differences from previous algorithms include:

  1. The removal of the dependence on the NCEP wind direction for retrieval. The CAP algorithm was developed to retrieve the salinity and wind without the need to use the NCEP winds for corrections.
  1. The CAP algorithm simultaneously retrieves the salinity, wind speed and direction by minimizing the sum of squared differences between model and observations.

Aquarius CAP L2 swath and L3 7day gridded, products, along with other versions of Aquarius data, associated reader software and user guide documentation, are accessible via ftp://saltmarsh.jpl.nasa.gov/.

New users will first have to undertake a simple registration for the purposes of acknowledging a disclaimer.
This can be done by going to http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/AquariusDataAccess.
