For those interested in Pluto and planetary missions,

Please join us next Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 11:30 am - 12:30 pm EDT for our next History Quarterly Speaker, Dr. Mike Neufeld.  A curator in the Space History Department of the National Air and Space Museum, Mike is well known for his incisive, carefully researched, award–winning works, including: "The Rocket and the Reich," and "Von Braun: Dreamer of Space, Engineer of War."  Mike will be speaking to us about his latest research into science mission planning at NASA, focusing on the first mission to Pluto, New Horizons.  His talk is entitled “First Mission to Pluto: Policy, Politics, Science and Technology in the Origins of New Horizons, 1989-2003.”

For those of you who can make it to NASA Headquarters, the event will be held in room 9H40.  (If you are not a NASA employee you will need help getting into the building – please contact Nadine Andreassen by Tuesday, September 17, to make arrangements.  Email: nadine.j.andreassen@nasa.gov or phone: 202 358-0087)

If you can't make it in person we will be making the talk available via Webex and telecon.  Details are below.
