Dear wind product user,
EUMETSAT plans to update the Metop-A ASCAT calibration to reflect the
calibration model used in the reprocessing of the Metop-A ASCAT Level 1 data
on 25 February. For full details, please see: http://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/News/DAT_2093341.html
This change will also influence the wind processing and therefore an upgrade
of the processing software for the ASCAT global (OSI SAF, including coastal)
and regional (EARS) wind products is planned for Wednesday, 16 February. The
new ASCAT Wind Data Processor (AWDP) will have version 2_3_00 and contains
the appropriate backscatter corrections for the new calibration. The new AWDP
version ensures a constant wind quality before and after the calibration
change. The product formats and sizes will not change.
Note that for the Metop-B ASCAT wind products, nothing will change.
