Two new Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) Level 4 datasets produced by the Remote Sensing Systems (REMSS) from a number of different sensors in the microwave and infrared range are now available. The datasets include Level 4 global foundation SST data derived from microwave (MW) sensors including the NASA Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS (AMSRE), the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Microwave Imager (TMI), the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) onboard the GCOM-W1 satellite, and WindSat on the Coriolis satellite, and from infrared (IR) sensors from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the NASA Aqua and Terra platform.  One Level 4 dataset (MW_OI) blends only the MW data while the other (MW_IR_OI) blends both MW and IR data. These datasets are in the GHRSST Data Processing Specification version 2 (GDS2)  netCDF4 format.

More information on these datasets can be found here:

Access is currently through FTP and OPeNDAP at locations such as (e.g., the Microwave only dataset):
