NATO Secretary General opens meeting of Defence Ministers, confirms Afghanistan troop increase

NATO Defence Ministers are meeting in Brussels today (29 June 2017) to address a wide range of issues, from fairer burden-sharing to the fight against terrorism and cyber defence. Ministers will also discuss NATO-EU cooperation, together with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and ministers from Sweden and Finland. The ministerial will end with a meeting of nations contributing to the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission. Arriving at the meeting, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that NATO will increase its presence in Afghanistan.
