ARCTIC AURORA SEASON BEGINS: They're back. Auroras have returned to the Arctic Circle as the Midnight Sun finally begins to fade. Sightings on Aug. 23rd and 24th confirm that green auroras are now mixing with polar twilight. This sets the stage for a good show on Aug. 27th when a high-speed stream of solar wind is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field, possibly sparking G1-class geomagnetic storms.
