WHY ARE SUNSETS TURNING PURPLE? Around the northern hemisphere, sky watchers are noticing an unusual color in the sunset sky: purple. The hue ranges from soft violet to vivid magenta, and is often accompanied by fine silvery streaks along the western horizon. What's going on?
