NASA History Listserv Readers:

For those of you in the Washington, DC area, please join us on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 12:30 p.m. in MIC 7 at NASA Headquarters for an exciting guest speaker.  Alan Ladwig, a former NASA senior manager, will discuss NASA’s role in opening space travel beyond the traditional astronaut corps.  His new book, See You in Orbit: Our Dream of Spaceflight, includes this story and more about the history of space tourism.  Ladwig, who was the manager of the agency’s Space Flight Participant Program, will describe how the 1984 program came about as well as other anecdotes about the long and winding road to space travel for the public.

If you are not a NASA employee but are a U.S. citizen and would like to attend, please contact Nadine Andreassen (nadine.j.andreassen@nasa.gov; 202-358-0087) ahead of time.  Please feel free to forward to other people who may be interested.

              Thanks,

              Steve
