Subject: Purdue University Archives and Special Collections Research Travel Grants – History of Flight and Space Exploration

Application deadline: January 17, 2020

The Barron Hilton Flight and Space Exploration Archives at the Purdue University Archives and Special Collections announces Research Travel Grants for those planning to travel in order to use materials at the Archives between March 1 and December 15, 2020. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to individual scholars studying subjects represented in the Barron Hilton Flight and Space Exploration Archives onsite. Grant applications will be accepted through January 17, 2020.

The Barron Hilton Flight and Space Exploration Archives was established in 2011 to collect original, rare, and unique materials that relate to the history of flight and space exploration and, in particular, materials that reveal the impact Purdue University’s teaching and research has had on aeronautics and astronautics. The Archives include the papers of faculty and alumni, notable among them the George Palmer Putnam collection of Amelia Earhart papers; the Neil A. Armstrong papers; the Eugene Cernan papers; the James “Jimmy” Johnson papers; and the Janice Voss papers.  The Hilton Flight Archives enables researchers to discover the work and experiences of pioneering engineers, aviators, and aerospace-related professionals by collecting and making accessible their personal papers. More information about the Hilton Flight Archives can be found at: https://www.lib.purdue.edu/spcol   Information about eligibility, criteria, and the application and submission process is available at the following link: https://www.lib.purdue.edu/spcol/research-travel-grants  For more information please contact Tracy Grimm, Associate Head of Archives and Special Collections, Purdue University, at grimm3@purdue.edu
