• NATO launches Exercise Cold Response in Norway

We, the Heads of State and Government of the 30 NATO Allies, have met today to address Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the gravest threat to Euro-Atlantic security in decades. Russia’s war against Ukraine has shattered peace in Europe and is causing enormous human suffering and destruction.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met troops participating in exercise Cold Response in northern Norway on 25 March 2022. The Secretary General said Cold Response shows NATO unity and strength in action, with forces from Europe and North America training together.

At an extraordinary Summit in Brussels on 24 March 2022, Allied leaders agreed to reset NATO’s longer-term deterrence and defence posture across all domains, land, sea, air, cyber and space. Exercise Cold Response 2022 is a long-planned exercise bringing together 30,000 troops from 27 NATO Allied and partner countries in the High North, testing their ability to work together in cold weather conditions across Norway – on land, in the air and at sea.
