SUBJ: 2022 LATINA STYLE DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE AWARD
1. The Coast Guard is accepting nominations for the 2022 Latina
Style Distinguished Military Service Award. Through this award,
Latina Style honors military and civilian women from all branches
who have enhanced the role of Hispanic and Latin Americans
throughout their respective organizations. The award is open to
Coast Guard service members (active duty or reserve) and civilian
employees. Anyone within the Service can nominate a deserving
individual by submitting materials as outlined in Paragraph 4.
The award’s period of performance is June 2021 to June 2022.
2. Service members (active duty or reserve) will be evaluated
according to the following criteria:
    a. Distinguished themselves as leaders, mentors, and advocates of
diversity and the full integration of Hispanic and Latin American
women in the Armed Forces.
    b. Embodied the qualities that are at the core of the Coast
Guard's missions.
    c. Are respected by superiors and peers as military and community
leaders.
    d. Represented the Hispanic and Latin American community with
dignity and pride.
3. Civilian employees will be evaluated according to the following
criteria:
    a. Embodied the qualities that are at the core of the Coast
Guard's missions.
    b. Aided in creating opportunities and careers that support and
contribute to the advancement of Hispanic and Latin Americans toward
senior level positions.
    c. Displayed exceptional character and represented the Hispanic
and Latin American community with dignity and pride.
4. Nominations must include the following:
    a. A narrative describing the accomplishments warranting
recognition, not to exceed two pages.
    b. A citation highlighting the nominee's accomplishments, not to
exceed 12 lines.
    c. A one-page biography of the nominee (a resume is not
acceptable).
    d. A digital (.jpg format) head and shoulder color photograph of
the nominee.
    e. Command cover memo, with signature, forwarding the package.
    f. Award Nomination Transmittal form. A copy of this form may be
obtained from the Point of Contact (POC) in Paragraph 6.
    g. Items a. through c. must be in MS Word, 12-point font,
single-spaced with one-inch margins. These documents may not be
scanned or in .pdf format. Please do not include Personally
Identifiable Information (PII).
5. Nominations must be forwarded as email attachments to the POC in
Paragraph 6 no later than June 28, 2022. COMDT (CG-00H) will forward
the nominations to the Latina Style organization whose leadership
will make the final selections. Latina Style will notify nominating
officials and awardees of the results. The Coast Guard will announce
the winners in an ALCOAST message to the workforce. The winners will
be recognized during the 19th National Latina Style Symposium Award
Program in Washington, DC at a date to be determined.
