Coast Guard Housing Manual, COMDTINST M11101.13G 1. This ALCOAST announces an update to REF (A) and provides Leased Housing Contracting Officers (LHCO) greater flexibility in order to better meet the housing needs of our members. 2. Section 5.D.9.a of REF (A) is amended to read "The lease contract will be terminated when the housing is no longer required. When canceling an occupied lease for the convenience of the government the member is entitled to a government funded local move or storage of HHG. Commander (CG PSC) approval is required to retain vacant leases beyond 60 days." 3. Newly acquired leased housing may remain vacant up to 60 days prior to member's arrival and current or existing leases may remain vacant up to 60 days between changes of occupancy. Extensions beyond 60 days will be considered on a waiver basis through the housing office chain of command to Commander (CG PSC). 4. LHCOs should continue to make every effort to acquire leased housing in conjunction with member's assignment date, and minimize the number of days a lease remains vacant. 5. Leased housing is considered an extension of Coast Guard owned housing and when assigned a minimum of 12 months of occupancy is required. 6. Early communication between the inbound members and the servicing housing office is imperative to ensure housing needs are addressed prior to the member's arrival at the new duty station. 7. The Housing Program remains committed to assisting members and their families secure adequate housing within a reasonable commute of their duty station. 8. These changes will be incorporated into the next revision of REF (A), which will be released within the next year. 9. This message will be cancelled on 08 MAY 2023. 10. POCs: Mr. James R.
