1. The 50th Annual NNOA Leadership, Training, and Professional
Development Symposium will be held in-person on 25-29 July 2022 at
the Westin Annapolis Hotel in Annapolis, MD. This year's theme is
"NNOA 50: Forging into the Future." For more information:

The full agenda and all updates regarding the annual symposium can
be found on the NNOA website.
2. The CG's Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) supports and
encourages participation in affinity group symposiums in an effort
to increase the retention of a diverse and talented workforce. These
events are valuable professional development opportunities that
provide a forum for mentoring, networking, and optimizing career
success. All employees (Active Duty, Reserves, Civilians, and
Auxiliary) are encouraged to attend. The National Naval Officers
Association actively supports the sea services in the development
of a diverse officer corps through recruitment, retention and career
development.
3. The CG Office of Diversity and Inclusion COMDT (CG-127) will
coordinate the Conference Attendance Request and Post Conference
Report IAW REF (A) and will account for all attendance and overall
cost. Whether on official orders or self-funded, civilian employees
attendance including travel time is considered work time. For
civilian employees supervisory approval to attend during work time
(including a reasonable amount of travel time) must be indicated
by email, and reflected in the remarks section of the employee's
timecard. The remarks must state the employee is approved work
and travel time to attend the NNOA Conference during his/her
scheduled tour of duty on 25-29 July 2022. The employee's
attendance at events outside of the employee's scheduled tour of
duty is not required and is at the employee's discretion; therefore,
overtime and compensatory time for work cannot be approved.
4. CO/OICs are encouraged to promote and support the professional
development of all government employees. Permissive orders are
authorized IAW Ch.2.a.10. of REF (B). Limited funding from COMDT
(CG-127) for registration fees are available but travel will need
to be covered at the unit's expense. COMDT (CG-127) will cover
registration fees ($325 per person) for the first 45 applicants,
with the highest priority being given to junior members and first
time attendees. Units are authorized to provide funding for both
registration fees and travel for members to attend from unit funds.
Requests for COMDT (CG-127) registration funding will be sent
directly via email to LCDR Roberto Concepcion by June 10, 2022 at
Roberto.C.Concepcion@uscg.mil and copy
HQS-SMB-CG127-Conference@uscg.mil. USCG NNOA Affiliate will notify
