SOVEREIGN SKIES:  THE ORIGINS OF AMERICAN CIVIL AVIATION POLICY

Time/Date/Location:  noon – 1 pm ET, Wednesday May 25, virtual via MS Teams link

University of Kansas historian and Associate Professor Sean Seyer will discuss the early 20th century origins of U.S. civil aviation policy.  By analyzing the transnational context of seemingly domestic regulation, this presentation highlights the influence of global regimes on U.S. technology policy and demonstrates the need for continued engagement in world affairs.  This topic is especially relevant today in considering the sovereignty of space, amidst the many new commercial and international space actors.
