In chilly and challenging southern Finland, US Marines and the Finnish Navyâs Nyland Brigade recently trained together in the lead-up to the Finnish-led exercise Freezing Winds 22. Over three rigorous months, the newest member of NATO showed their US friends how to navigate Finlandâs icy waters during the longest deployment of US Marines to the country.

On 28 April 2023, ambassadors of NATOâs North Atlantic Council, military representatives from the NATO Military Committee and other senior military officials visited His Majestyâs Naval Base Clyde in Scotland, home to the United Kingdomâs independent nuclear deterrent. This was the second visit by the North Atlantic Council to an Allied nuclear submarine base this month, following a visit to the French nuclear base of Ile Longue.
