The NATO Response Forceâs quick-reaction unit, the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) has tested its deployment at short notice for the protection and defence of NATOâs southern flank through Exercise Noble Jump 23.

Deputy Secretary General Mircea GeoanÄ is in Washington, D.C. this week for talks with senior U.S. officials as well as several public engagements. On 9 May 2023 he met with Senator Jeanne Shaheen and other members of the Senate NATO Observer Group, as well as the Special Presidential Climate Envoy, John Kerry, and the Department of Defenseâs Chief Digital and AI Officer, Dr Craig Martell. He also participated in a discussion hosted by the Atlantic Councilâs Freedom and Prosperity Center, stressing the enduring value of NATO for both North America and Europe.

On 8 May 2023, the NATO Military Committee received an overview on the Israeli Defence Forces Innovation Strategy, including new Israeli military capabilities and their application of artificial intelligence and robotics on the battlefield. The NATO Military Representatives regularly meet with Partner Nations to receive updates and exchanges views on topics of mutual interest.
