Following a request from the Iraqi authorities and a decision by the North Atlantic Council on 17 August 2023, the scope of NATO Mission Iraq will also include advisory and capacity-building activities in support of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and Federal Police Command.

Hybrid methods of warfare â such as propaganda, deception, sabotage and other non-military tactics â are used against NATO Allies by adversaries. These threats are increasing in speed, scale and intensity, but NATO has a strategy for its role in countering hybrid warfare and stands ready to defend the Alliance and all Allies.
