Following decisions taken at the Washington Summit, national armaments directors have agreed on a strategy to enhance NATOâs Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Force (NISRF) with additional capabilities. The agreement taken on 9 July 2024 by the Conference of National Armaments Directors will provide more intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities to better support the NISRF.

On 23 July 2024, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the appointment of a Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Javier Colomina. He is the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and has served as the NATO Secretary Generalâs Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.
